Writing your life story is not easy and you may well have experienced writer’s block. Whether it’s figuring out where to begin, how to structure your narrative, or finding the right words to truly capture your experiences. Here are some of the common stumbling blocks we find people experience:
- I would like to write my life story, but I don’t think I’ve led an interesting life. Is there any point?
- I have difficulty in recalling some of my past. I have swathes of memories in one part of my life and only vague recollections in others. How do I overcome this?
- I have pages of stories and ideas, but I have no idea where to start and how to pull it together in a logical and cohesive structure?
- I feel I want to write my book, but I am not sure I have the skill to do it. How do I ensure it is interesting to read?
- I am happy with what I have written – I simply need help in turning it into a book.
I offer a range of packages designed to help you write your life story.
Below, you will find two packages I offer to help you on your way. If you need additional help, I can provide a quote based on any specific support you need. Clearly this will vary according to the length of your life story and ambition for your book.
A Kick Off Session
90 minutes
This package includes a chat about why you would like to write you life story with advice, hints, and tips as to how to go about approaching it.
Cost: £95
A Memory Forage Session
2 hours, including information pack
This package includes sharing of our Memory Forage tools and ideas, as well as a 2 hour follow-up session to review your memories and ideas for the book, with some advice on appraoching the structure.
Cost: £195
Other services.
Other services that I can provide a detailed quote for, depending on the scope and specific requirements of the project, include the following
- Support in creating and or reviewing the structure for your book.
- Support in editing and proofreading (Please note, it is often more cost effective if we have worked together from the outset so that the structure is sound and the narrative clear and compelling).
- Typesetting, book creation (including text and photographs) and bespoke cover design.
- Printing.

Group workshops

Just over a year ago I was lucky enough to bump into Lynne Evans at a local Craft Fayre. I had already written approximately 15000 words and had a selection of photos, but in terms of creating a book of my Father's life - I really had no idea what to do next!
Lynne gave me the confidence that within a short period of time ( less than 6 weeks) we could create his life story in book form and get copies to the family as Christmas presents. Our first meeting was at a local hotel and I knew instantly that my Father's life story was about to be created.

Even as we got closer to Christmas and there were issues with the printing firm - she never failed to deliver her original promise.
My family and friends loved the finished product and Dad's book has been read by numerous family members over the past year. Lynne helped to create a real sense of pride for the 95 year old who, like many who experienced the war years, led an eventful life.
